About Us

Who We Are

Emily Schmidt is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S). She is dual certified with Natural Lifemanship to facilitate equine assisted psychotherapy and/or equine assisted learning as a mental health professional or equine professional (NLC-P,EP). Emily has over 20 years of experience facilitating equine-assisted services.

She enjoys spending time outdoors, learning and connecting with her two horses and golden retriever. Most of all, she seeks to live as a thankful child of the God, a sinner saved by grace.

Our Methods Are Based on These Philosophies

The counseling philosophies we use are grounded in Person-Centered, Attachment, and Experiential approaches.

S.T.A.R. Relationships
Safety, Trust, Attachment, Redemption

S.T.A.R. helps us grow and heal. It has the ingredients for learning how to have healthy and safe relationships.

We all want safe and meaningful relationships. STAR is a way to remember some key elements of healthy relationships. At Star of Hope, we believe that connection within the context of safe relationships is the beginning of healing and growth.

Our prayer is that you find healing and health through redemptive relationships, both now and for eternity.

H.O.P.E. for Life
Heaven's Door, Opened by the Cross, Through a Personal Relationship, with the Eternal King

H.O.P.E. gives us deepest healing and connection for eternity. All people can choose to have it by accepting what Jesus did to bring people back into a right relationship with God.

While the services at Star of Hope are not all faith based, we have the hope and prayer that all who come to us for connection will find healing and redemption. Our desire is for all to experience the love of God, regardless of who they are or where they have been.

We all long to feel wanted, accepted, and valued. Life often gives us more hurt and shame than we can handle. But there is HOPE. We are created by a God who not only loves us but has made a way for redemption–the restoring of what has been broken in us and our lives. This hope is possible for all eternity, as heaven’s door is opened for us through personal relationship with the eternal King.

All have sinned–missed the mark of perfection required for heaven. We have both sinned and been sinned against, giving us a load too heavy for us. But God didn’t want to leave us with this burden. He chose to leave heaven, live a perfect life as a man, and die on a cross as the punishment for our sins. He rose again, the third day, opening the door for anyone to come into a personal relationship with God. Through this relationship, we can receive complete forgiveness, the promise of heaven and full redemption of what sin has stolen.

F.A.R.M. Kids-Mentoring Program
Forgiven And Redeemed Man
